A Better Alternative to Guest Posting

Its no secret that guest posting is great for building a blog.  However, one of my issues with it has always been that I didn't have time to write a decent guest post AND still create new content for my site.

As an alternative to standard guest posting, last week Nick from A Young Pro and I exchanged posts.  He wrote a great article for my site, and I wrote an article for his.  By going this route we both gained the benefit of guest posting, but didn't limit the new material on our respective sites.

It was great working with Nick, and I would highly recommend post exchanges of this nature.

I did this with Kevin from Thousandaire a few times. We took sides of an argument and then told the other's readers why we were right. It was good for traffic and also a lot of fun. We go tot make fun of each other, all in good fun. Highly recommended!

I'd like to offer to do this with another yakezie challenger or member… any takers? Recently I guest posted (here) at Stacking Benjamins and would love to do it again with an "exchange" like the OP suggestions!

Shoot me an email.

Thanks! Cool

Hi Chuck!

I'd be up for doing an "exchange". Do you have any specific topic you're thinking about in mind? Let me know!

We used to do a monthly "blog swap" where people could sign up if they were interested in swapping. Then we partnered everyone up and "swapped" on the same day. Everyone in the entire swap wrote on the same topic and the organizer blog posted a round-up with links to all of the posts.

Chuck and I swapped posts today -  definitely a great alternative to guest posting. Check out each one of ours here:

If anyone wants to swap with me, let me know! I'd like to do this once a month.

This was really fun and broadened the link impact by including the other swap participants links in the article!

Anyone interested in setting up a sign up and coordinating in g docs?

I remember that! I'd be interested. I don't know if I have access to the google docs anymore. I switched email addresses and would have to figure that out. Anyone Google Docs savvy? (They changed their layout and it's confusing!)

We can start our blog swap..let me organize this one.

Date –  08/30 (Friday)

Topic - My first experience of earning extra money on the side and the lessons learned

Here's the signup sheet. Signup by 08/20.

Also, if anyone willing to coordinate upcoming editions of the swap do sign up on the first tab.

Host coordinator for the upcoming edition would pick the swap topic. It's coordinator's responsibility to announce the topic and solicit participation in the forum.

Coordinator also get to select the swap pairs. If we get odd number of participation, three way blog swap is encouraged.

Example – Blog A will publish blog B's content, B would publish C's and C will publish A's.

If you're interested in the topic and can send your post latest by 08/27 to your partner, do signup on the second tab.

I'd be interested as well, sounds like a great idea. Looks like the Google Doc doesn't have write permission set up for public users yet.

No Rita, you'll need to write on the topic, infact every one needs to write on the topic. Feel free to tweak the title keeping the idea intact.

Then based on submissions, partners would be selected. Once you know your partner blog, you can get in touch with him/her to exchange your posts.
