Hi everyone.  I know that many of you have been interesting in adding advertisements to your sites.  I have a current advertiser that had just opened an affiliate program and is interested in personal finance blogs.  This program is based in the U.K.

What you do is this: Install a widget typically in the sidebar or under individual posts.  The widget will show a relevant advertisement usually on every third or fourth visit.  So an ad does not show up every single time.

You decide on a monthly rate (in pounds) and your account there accumulates.  You can cash out to your PayPal once your balance reaches 20 pounds.  I have worked with them for about 8 months now and it has been both seamless and simple.

If you're interested, please e-mail me at cheapskate(at)yesiamcheap(dot)com with the subject line Adbeans.  I'll need to send an e-mail to my account manager stating that you are interested while cc'ing you so that you can chat.

Some of the older blogs probably already has a relationship with this company, but for some of you seeking advertisers, this might interest you.

Full disclosure: I get a referral fee if you sign up.

I'm sure that they're being lazy and avoiding the usual avenues.  It saves them $$ I guess.

Sandy – do you care to explain how affiliate advertising would work for those of us that tried it, had no luck, and turned it off?

I think a "how-to" would be wildly popular if you can think about sites like yours that are very well established and those who are kinda established, and the newer players (I mean, our site is just over 9mos old! ;) )

Thanks!

Sounds interesting. I think I need to build more traffic before I try affiliate links though. It just clogs up my site. I'm sure I'll be asking you about this soon though! :)

Hi guys.  Adbeans isn't an affiliate program.  This is a link widget.  I just get paid if you sign up through me as an affiliate.  I think they pay $50.

Affiliate programs can be great for the right site.  Sustainable PF, I can think of loads of products to match with your site and/or specific posts.  I'd make $$$ hand over fist.  Unfortunately my site is a debt reduction/frugality site and affiliate programs do not work as well with my audience.

For a great overview on affiliate programs in general, I highly recommend this link.
