I updated Better WP security plugin and it brought the whole site down. Here is the error message when I try to go to my site.

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@retireby40.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The support guy renamed the better WP security plugin folder and I can load my site again. Just a heads up. What security plugin do you use?

I updated to the most recent version of Better WP Security, now called iThemes Security, several days ago and experienced no issues.

A while back there was a communication sent out warning of possible deactivation of the plugin when updating, but I don't think it should have crashed your site. I didn't even have the deactivation problem when updating.

Joe, I use AntiVirus Wordpress and 6Scan. I'm a bit underwhelmed by each, so I can't say I'd recommend them. The main issue is false positives, which AntiVirus regenerates if I update my theme. Then it hangs when I try to do a manual scan. I'm about to uninstall it I think.

I use Wordfence as my only security plugin now. I used to use a combination of a few, but I found that this has everything I need and works great.
