First, an apology. I have been a terrible, awful, no good, very bad member these last few months. I totally missed hosting a blog swap, I've been a poor commenter/tweeter/FB sharer, and numerous other offenses. I could go on about the reasons why but really, I just sucked at pretty much everything this summer (except watching my kid. I was pretty good at that). So, with that, I'm sorry.
And now, moving on…
So, I'm thinking of starting a blogging mentorship-type program. Veteran bloggers would help newbie bloggers with site design,
traffic, social media, exposure…all the component necessary to get a blog more notice (and readers). If you're interested in participating
as either a mentor or mentee (definitions are pretty lax), please leave a post here or send me an email at jana@dailymoneyshot.net
I'm still working on the details but I want to see if there's even enough interest to get it started.
P.S. I don't know what the deal is with the font. Again, I'm sorry.

That's a cool idea Jana. Would it be paid/free? Would you provide a forum for interactions? I love to receive advice from veterans. I also enjoy helping a rookie get started.
All the best!

Martin, those are really good questions. Hopefully these answers help: it will be on a completely free/volunteer basis. I hadn't thought about creating a forum but it's a good suggestion and one that I will definitely take into consideration. Also, the idea of bloggers being a mentor and a mentee simultaneously is pretty decent. I'll think about it.

Cool idea. I certainly would be interested as a mentee, if any established mentors are willing to take me under their wing. (My blog is about two months old.)

I would like to sign up as a mentee! There are so many things that I don't know.

Thanks so much to everyone who's expressed interest so far! I really appreciate it!
I'm hoping to get about 10 pairs of mentors/mentees for the pilot of the program, so if this sounds like something you'd be willing to do, please do. I promise it will only take as much time as you want it to take. I'm going to put together mentor and mentee questionnaire so that I make the best matches possible. Also, there will be a Facebook group for anyone involved in the program or anyone who would be interested in the next go-round (if there is one). That's all the details I've worked out so far. When I have the FB group page set up, I'll be sure to post it.

Cool idea. I could lend some tips as a mentor too. Like Justin said though, there are some kings and queens of blogging that know a lot more than me.

I'd love to have a mentor. I feel lost sometimes, and could definitely use some guidance on proper use of social media, how to get RSS subscribers on my specific blog, design, etc…
I'll shoot you an email.
Thanks for putting this together. :)

I'm interested, but I don't really know if I should be a mentor or mentee. I've had at least one blog up and running for over 2 years, and another 2 going for over a year so far. At the same time, my traffic isn't very high, so it might be that I don't really know much about getting other people to see your blog…

Happy to help out as a mentor. As a Canadian blogger I deal with some different things/issues than do our American/UK/AU/rest-of-world-colleagues so if there is a Canuck looking for assistance I might be a fit. Happy to help others as well! (but I may not know the answers for legal or tax questions).

Thank you all so much for your enthusiastic response! I'm really looking forward to getting this up and running, which I'm aiming to do in the weeks following FinCon.
Erin–I think that, for you, it could work either way. If it were me (and I might participate as well as administer), I'd probably be a mentee the first time around then act as a mentor. But you can do whatever you're more comfortable with. We can talk about it next week :)
SPF, MoneyBeagle, and Jacob–I'm assuming you guys want to be mentors (well, SPF, you kind of made that clear and I LOVE the idea of you working with another Canadian blogger). If that's a wrong assumption, please let me know.
For new challengers who are hesitant, please don't be scared of participating. There's no set time commitment and those who have volunteered to mentor are some of my favorite bloggers. There's still plenty of room for mentees!

I love this idea. I'd be happy to be a sounding board for your ideas on getting it started – things like how to do the match ups, guidance for, or qualification of the mentors, things to cover and etc…..
Things like this were kind of what I was thinking about when I wrote Should Yakezie Be More than a Network http://yakezie.com/202242/feat…..a-network/ - so thanks for making my nebulous suggestion more concrete!!

This is such a great idea! Honestly, I'd love to be a mentee and a mentor. I'll send you my background and hopefully you'll know where to fit me.

I'd love to be a mentee or a mentor. I learn new stuff everyday, but I knew a bit to help someone new get started.
