Can someone explain or teach me a little bit about IFRAME?

Most of the time, I just copy and paste html into a txt widget and things hopefully fit in the spaces.  What is the definition and main use of an iFrame code?  The "src" in the iframe code is nice and tight and completely different.  Are there load time and security benefits?

I just want to learn as much as possible.  Anybody have any good links or a book for html dummies and stuff?

Thx,

Sam

Sam, iframe is basically like it's own browser window within a site.

So you can use it to show your facebook page within a page on your site. Or maybe a ecommerce site where you display your ebay page within your own site.

Nothing too fancy about it, literally just a window to show another site within yours.

Sam, iframe is "inline frame". Basically that includes the url of another document defined by the "src" that goes within this frame. You can resize the iframe to whatever size you see fit in the destination.

Also if you are using an external source, if they make the changes, your site (this frame) will automatically be updated without you doing anything.

Hi Tom & Suba – Thanks for the info!  Makes sense.  Do advertisers or collaborators ever send you iframe code?  Or is this code something you create on your own after you get the normal HTML code?

Sounds like iframe is more beneficial to the external source, as they can easily change what they want remotely verses always having to send you an update…. and might be not as good for the blogger, if s/he wants more control…..?

BTW, how did you guys see my post so fast?  Is it the number the pops up on the middle upper right that says # Topics With Unread Posts?

Thx, Sam

I am always online Sam :) The site works better than the mail app in my phone :)

And yes, the # on the right top is the unread post and that is the one I use most.

Hey Sam, here is an example of an iframe setup: http://knsfinancial.com/coupon…..-database/

Since this database is actually maintained by someone else, and updated daily, this is the best way to post it. Otherwise, I'd have to upload the new information daily – or be relegated to only posting a link.

I use a Plugin to make it easy.  It is called Embed IFrame and it works great!
