Hey Everyone!
I'm brand spankin' new here and wanted to say hello! I just started a finance blog a few weeks ago and am trying to get plugged into the finance blogger community.
This blogging thing is kind of new to me and I would love any advice from some you seasoned folks care to share.
Right now I'm just trying to post consistently 2 – 3 times per week. I also started a blog carnival to try and connect with some of the other bloggers out there.
Is there anything else that you did when you were just getting started that was a big help to you? Also, I'd love to join the Yakezie Challenge. Is there anything special I need to do to join?
Thanks everyone! I look forward to getting to know you!

Hey Jeremy! Good to meet you.
The following post describes how to join the Yakezie challenge - http://yakezie.com/896/persona…..-everyone/.
As far as advice goes, I'd recommend getting involved the conversation here, commenting on other blogs, and hosting as many existing blog carnivals as you can.
A giveaway on your site is also a good idea to kick things off!

Welcome. I agree with Jacob. All of those things can help your blog out tons. Also, have patience. Good things take time.

As a 2 month old blog, unless you have significant readers or social media followers I would hold off on a contest. The old saying 'If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it – does it make a sound?' comes to mind.

Welcome! I would say just continue to stay involved in the forums. It's great for finding new connections. And Twitter works pretty well also. It has been one of my best referrers lately.

Nice site, welcome to the Yakezie!
So you go by "The Whiz" on your blog? I don't suppose you are a Seinfeld fan, because that's the first thing that came to mind in my head lol.

Jeremy – posting 2 or 3 times a week is a good start. Posting here and showing an interest in networking is even better, as that will get your blog noticed. Comment on other people's blogs, submit to carnivals, and try to guest post. If you do those things, and are truly having fun with it, you'll be in really good shape.

Thanks for the warm welcome and for the advice.
@MoneyIsTheRoot – I am a Seinfeld fan, but the blog name is just coincidence. I actually hadn't made that connection until you mentioned it. Now, that's probably all I will think about, heh.

Welcome!
I would definitely participate in carnivals to get your stuff out there–starting with Yakezie's, but also other carnivals.

Jeremy, looks like you found a good place for a young blog to get started. Commeting and Adding to the conversations on other blogs is a good way to get out there and build relationships.

Welcome Jeremy! I joined the challenge at the end of August and can honestly share with you I would be nowhere without the support of the members of this community. This is much more than a forum Jeremy, I would describe it as a lifestyle really. Commit to the Challenge and you will be amazed at the results both in terms of building a successful blog and building relationships with a great group of people.
