I used to do M,W,F,Su – but then I entered a challenge to post every day for 30 days and my pageviews more than doubled during those 30 days. Now I do every day except Saturdays (I sometimes sneak those in as well).

It's a lot because now I just started as a staff writer for Redeeming Riches.

I wish I could have all this time to write every day. But then I think – would I have ideas to post every day? Sometimes I am afraid to write myself out… if it makes sense. But most of the bloggers that I met do post pretty often. oh well… I will try three times a week, see how it goes.

I know exactly what you mean. I have sacrificed sleep in order to take care of my website. My problem is not coming up with ideas – I have plenty – it's just finding the time to research and write. I have about 10 or 12 unfinished drafts right now – but I've heard of some bloggers who have a few dozen.

1-2 hours per week on content, with 2-3 hours on everything else including putting the blog together itself, etc.  the goal is to get to 3-4 hours per week, and down to just 1-2 hours of content creation in the long run. as blog matures and gains momentum, posting as frequently isn't as critical as when you first start

Those who work full time somewhere else, how much time daily do you put into your blog? Do you even work on your blog every day? Do you try to post every day? Every other day? Do you have a schedule? Just curious to see what other bloggers are doing.

I post on Budgeting in the Fun Stuff every day, 7 days a week, Crystal Clear Thoughts on M-W-F-Sat, and It's a Dog's Life For Me on M-W-F (oh, those are my 3 blogs).  I also am a staff writer for Sweating in the Big Stuff every Wednesday and I guest post all over occasionally as well.  Yep, I'm a full blown addict.  :-)

My full time job is Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm but the work comes in a few waves a day, which means I can do blog stuff in between the waves (that's about 2-3 hours a day).  I also blog Monday through Thursday evening for at least 2 hours and at least a few hours on Saturday and Sunday.  Friday night is usually my night off although I will do stuff if plans fall through.  Most of my social life is during parts of the day on the weekends.

I'd guess I spend at least 30-40 hours a week on writing posts, replying to comments, reading other blogs and commenting, keeping up with the Yakezie, and submitting to blog carnivals.  I'm looking for a new job so will probably have to cut out that 15 hours while at work if I find something…

I don't have a set schedule, but if I don't have posts scheduled at least one week in advance on BFS, I will spend a part of either Saturday or Sunday catching up.

Now that all of that is in writing, I must sound like a complete bore.  I really am fun in the real world too.  My husband and I board game, hang out with friends, host potlucks, cook, and visit family.  I'm a slight bingo addict as welll and we take as many vacations as possible (which is 2-3 a year…one biggie and a couple of weekend trips).

So yeah, that is Crystal's life…what does yours look like?  :-)

I spend 1-2 hours per post and I try to put up 3 posts per week, sometime 4. I spend a lot of time reading other blogs and leaving comments though. Probably 2-3 hours a day right now, not all in one block but 15-30 minutes bites throughout the day.

I never realized how much time the blog would take, but it's all good. I am learning a lot from all the Yakezie blogs.

I spend about 5-7 hours a week writing (5 posts a week) and maybe 30 minutes of other blog-related things daily on average. I post Monday through Friday.

I spend 30-60 minutes per post and I post M/W/F + sporadic Saturdays.   If I'm posting something that takes research, it's sometimes 3 hours per post.  If I'm hosting a carnival….all freakin' day.

Being about 10 days old now, Mrs. SPF has spent perhaps 20 minutes a day proof-reading the content i've produced.  I've likely spent 4-5 hours a day reading content of others, trying to learn how to use wordpress and the template i'm using, figuring out scripts, learning how to network and find readers and our niche and lastly trying to find time to write content.

Having moved into our house in Sept. there are a zillion and one little projects that we want done so I spend considerable time on that (e.g. last night I spent a few hours getting our entry way fixed up – new coat hooks installed, shelving, a boot dryer <remember, i'm in Canada!> installed).

Our blog is close to the look/feel we want, now we need to focus on content content content as i've read that this is hands down the most important part of your blog (which totally makes sense).  The biggest time issue I have found is research.  I could ramble senselessly without facts, but given our blog theme – sustainable personal finance, we like to back up our green/eco/sustainability/socially responsibile approach with hard facts, numbers and stats to prove why acting the way we act makes financial and ethical sense.

Ooohhh–my husband and I got to go to one of Crystal's potlucks and board game night! (It was nice meeting you and your husband Crystal:)).

I spend around 25-35 hours per week on my blogs. I break it down roughly by ideation (always with a pad of paper and a pen to jot down ideas, 15% of my time), writing (60% of my time), and marketing (25% of my time). I just love to write, so it's not a chore for me at all (unless I am going on a trip and need to write lots in advance, like recently). I am also a staff writer at the My Dollar Plan Blog, and write one article a week there. That takes another 3-4 hours typically.

I don't have a set schedule at all. I work a compressed work schedule, so have three day weekends, which is when I do a lot of my writing. I do more ideation and marketing throughout the week and weeknights.

Hahaha.  My husband is happy I finally have a time consuming hobby since I usually nagged him about all of his, lol.  He refs high school football and basketball 3-4 nights a week from September-February, is on a Curling league Sunday mornings and some Mondays between October-April and some of the summer, and likes to board game every Friday or Saturday.  He's also recently taken up a trial of World of Warcraft.

Now that I'm making real money ($500-$1000 a month), he brags about my blogs to friends and family like I have a second job and he rarely says anything about all the evening time I spend on the comp.  I never blow off family or friend events or date nights, so really I am just using all of my free time anyway.  We still watch our favorite shows – I just also have my Gmail open on one page and the Yakezie forum open on another so I can respond to whatever comes in, lol.

For the last month, I easily spend 8 hours a week writing posts (I've stepped up and guest post more), 5 hours a week reading and commenting on other blogs, 10 hours a week reading and responding to emails (readers, Yakezie, and advertisers mainly), and 15 hours a week reading and commenting on the Yakezie forums.  :-)  Yep, 35 hours of my week minimum.  I love it!  :-)

Yeah, if I had kids or a job that required 50-60 hours of my time a week, my schedule would change since I like my sleep too, lol.  I'm trying to turn my blogs into full time jobs which is probably why I put so much time into it all.  Good luck Aloysa!

I guess I'm technically trying to do the same thing. I can blog whenever I want, but my PF blog is probably last on my list so it just gets updated randomly. Probably not the best way to go about building an audience, is it?
