Do you tweet anything other than your posts? Because honestly? If someone I follow never tweets anything other than links to their own posts .. and they do that 3x a day or more? Unfollow. Pretty much immediately. Twitter is about SOCIAL NETWORKING. People tend to forget that and think of it as just another promotional outlet. If you're not being social on Twitter, and all you're doing is pushing your content onto an audience, it's not going to be effective for you.

I retweet a lot of posts. My struggle is to come up with something "interesting" to say that is just a general comment…

I used to use Twitter Tools, and I loved it. Then Twitter did an update, and it stopped working.
I'll give it another try, because this was about 6 months ago!

Do you think this same idea goes for people who tweet links from other sites? Probably 99% of my tweets are links, but about 95% of those are from other sites.

I often read Twitter from my phone, so a Twitter stream that is nothing but links isn't useful to me. I can't really follow links quickly and easily on my phone.
Again: Twitter is a SOCIAL outlet. Tweeting nothing but links – to your posts, to other posts, whatever – isn't social. IMO.

Thanks for the link. I am a big fan of twitter; just have to find time to mix that in along with writing, commenting, etc.
