Hi all. I'm wondering if anyone can provide some insight to this. After following all of the Google Panda updates and the importance of followed links, etc., I went on my site last week and nofollowed a bunch of external links in order to limit the amount of outgoing links from the site.
After doing that my mozRank tanked from 4.50 down to 3.95. What gives?! My rank has been above 4 ever since I've been tracking it for about a year and I wonder if this change is what impacted it. Anyone have a clue?

Sandy-
I haven't made any similar changes to my site, but thought I would go ahead and check to see if my site's MozRank declined too. Lo and behold, it did.
It had been steadily increasing, and was up to 4.78 based on what I saw in the Yakezie member list page. However, when checking just today on another site, it's now 4.11. So, that's a similar magnitude in drop to what you've experienced.
Would be interesting to know why, and if this is a widespread occurence.

I'm still "stuck" at 4.06. No changes at all here, but I did recently cull back the number of links in my sidebar.

My moz rank did not change, but I did not alter any of my links.

Well this is great news! Check out the list of Yakezie Blogs http://yakezie.com/personal-fi…..nce-blogs/
My site, SPF, Buy Like Buffet, KNS Financial, Money Reasons, and many more now have a MozRank of 0.00!
Gotta love it!

However, I just went to the source of the data, http://www.opensiteexplorer.or…../a!metrics, and it appears that my MozRank is still above 5.
So, the Yakezie list metrics just might not be reporting correctly.

PR increased (from 3 to 4)
MozRank increased (from 4 to 5.02)
but SE traffic dropped for TFB… interesting ;-)

So, I checked the opensite explorer link from Jacob's email below, and found that my Moz is still showing 4.78.
The source of the information on 4.11 Moz in my reply above was the following: http://www.check-domains.com/w…..alyzer.php
So, what gives? Which one is accurate and which one is off? Trying to determine if this is a real issue or not, that was introduced by Sandy and followed up by me. Any thoughts?

I don't think most smaller blogs see any of these incremental updates in PR.
Our PR has dropped from 5.3 to 4.63 over the last 4 months.
Compete increased 400%.
Not sure how to fix the slide.

I just dropped to a 0 Moz rank too, from 4.26. I hope this is a problem with the Yakezie system.

HA!
The loss of mozRank dropped us 7 spots on that list.
Top 10 to 17th!

I'm really trying to figure out what affects mozRank and am steadily trying to reduce outgoing links based on a number of conversations that I've had with an advertiser. In fact, based on those conversations I am writing an article for Technorati on the subject.
I'm not looking at the Yakezie list for my rank. I know that it goes up and down. Anyway, I think that I also have to specify which domain to pull. Which is best everyone? With the www in front (http://www.yesiamcheap.com) or without (http://yesiamcheap.com)?

Sandy, as we've been dropping for month I too have been working on figuring out this and other "independent" ranking systems. No luck. If you learn anything i'd love to learn too …
I'd warn against taking TOO much clout into an advertiser asking you to reduce links – remember – they have the SAME access to information we do (uh, google?). There are different trains of thought on all sorts of "strategies" from my own research (and take that w/ a grain of salt too!). IMO an advertiser is always looking out for their best interest.

Sandy – I go without the www but I'm not sure that either is better. Just stick to one and be consistent. I have my google webmaster tools setting my domain to the non-www and I have a redirect from the www to the non-www.
As for outgoing links – certainly a prospective advertiser wants less links so they have a motivation there. If a link is natural and informative, it's ok that's it's outgoing. I think the SE's want this, they want real references to useful content.

My moz has actually increased, unfortunately, my Alexa has been increasing, too. My moz is at 3.4 (it was at 2.1 last month)… Google still refuses to give me a PR. :(

My mozRank has increased a tiny bit (well, not according to the Yakezie list – I'm at 0 ) over the last few weeks. They may be going through a series of updates, and these fluctuations are just a part of that.

My mozrank shows as 0 but it has actually gone up to a 5 when I check it on Opensite Explorer.
