My Adsense Spots are Blank

Adsense seems to have stopped feeding me ads but I can't find any notices or messages on why.  I've replaced my Adsense code just to make sure, but it shows a large, blank space like when an ad isn't available.  They also have not updated my payment history for May yet (I hit beyond $100 again over the two months, this would be my 3rd payout)…is this what happens before they toss my butt out?

My Adsense is still down.  I deactivated all of my plugins but the code I cut and pasted directly from Adsense still didn't work.  I am completely stumped since Adsense says my ads are all active still.

Where do your ads usually show?  I don't see any Adsense but I don't see empty blocks either?

I also see this at the bottom of your footer, not sure if it has anything to do with anything but it doesn't sound great:

Code corrupted. Insert fresh copy.

I usually have Adsense under the titles of any of my posts older than 5 days.  Everyday Tips doesn't see the blank boxes either.  Apparently I am the only one who can see the blank space…I am so confused.

And no, that message doesn't sound good at all…grrrr….I am never updating to a new Wordpress version ever!

Hey Crystal,

I don't see AdSense or blank boxes.  Using my Mac and Safari browser.  You recently upgraded WordPress?

Yes, I updated Wordpress, crossed my fingers like usual, and lost Adsense.  Apparently I am the only one who sees blank space where my Adsense should be on 5 day or older posts, but a couple of people have mentioned that my Page Source code shows that Adsense is all mushed up in one long line instead of spread out like it should be…

I'm not seeing any AdSense boxes on your older posts as well.  I tried look at the page source, but AdSense code didn't stand out.  You did have one funky line of code that went on forever though.

I am not seeing any blank spots. I have not seen adsense in your post so I dont know I am even looking at the right place. In any case I am not seeing errors or blank spots. Have you filed a help ticket with adsense?

I couldn't find a place to start a ticket, but I did post my question in the forums.  Peggy K thinks it's one of my plugins even though I told her I deactivated all of them and had the same problem.

I just looked at your code.  I ctrl+F'd for "google" which brought up a bunch of adsense codes.  They were 160x600, which is skyscraper size–that's not a big block…  Did you change the size of your ads?  Is it possible that a plug in is trying to show a big block adsense ad in a 160x600 space?

I had forgotten about the main ad I used to have that I hid on all pages.  It's gone now.  :-)

Speculating here, you upgraded WP…could it be that's it's something in your theme?  Does your theme have a more recent version you aren't using?  (Why that would knock out adsense and nothing else, I don't know, but code is funny like that sometimes).

And I know you said you disabled your plugins and used fresh adsense code, but I'll ask this anyway – Do you use anything like Who Sees Ads or another plugin for your Adsense?

I did upgrade Atahualpa at the same time and wonder how I can go back.  I usually use WhyDoWork Adsense but I have deactivated it now and am plugging the Adsense directly into my posts or into a sidebar text widget to test it out…

AdSense is actively hidden for you on your own posts. It prevents fraud clicks. I don't see the AdSense on my own pages from my home IP address, but I can see it if I use someone else's computer.

I would not blame it on a Wordpress upgrade, I would blame the plugin author. Upgrading Wordpress is generally to correct serious security issues. That is why I do all of the Ad Code myself.

Upgrading your theme file or a bad plugin is probably the real culprit, but if you see the blank box your browser knows that there is supposed to be something there. Ask a non-blogger friend that does not have AdSense to take a look from another computer.

Oh, I know Adsense isn't showing since I went from getting 400 plus views a day and $2-$5 to absolutely nothing…

Sorry to read about your frustrations Crystal. I wish I knew more about it to offer some assistance.
My cycling buddy is Microsofts security expert. He always talks about keeping everything patched up to date…every single application on your system. Might be worth a shot.

That's what I thought too, thanks.  I have zero updates left to do, so we'll see what happens.  Blogcrafted is taking a look tomorrow and I'll let you all know what is wrong as soon as I know!

I figured it out!!!  There was one stupid break in my darn theme that screwed everything up!  Look!

ATO->Configure CSS & JS->CSS: Compress?' set to "Yes" needs to be set to "No" instead!

Thank you everybody for pointing me in the right direction!!!
