I think most of us here are fans of Pat from Smart Passive Income. Pat and I started blogging around the same time and one of us has gone on to be one bad a$$ blogger that's very well known across many niches (Hint: it's not me)  Wink

I've always wanted to guest post for his site, but never could come up with a good idea.   One afternoon after a workout I came up with a guest video post idea.  Yes!  This was going to be it.  I rushed back to the office, threw my polo shirt back on, and filmed what I had titled "What do do after you start making passive income".  Brilliant!

I got it 80% edited and uploaded to YouTube and shot Pat the link telling him my masterful idea.

Unfortunately, he respectfully declined saying that he didn't feel that the video was a good fit for his blog.   Crap.  Defeated. Cry

I wasn't mad at Pat.   Heck, I never even asked him if it was a good idea before I started filming and editing.  Lesson learned.

I finally got to meet Pat in Chicago at Fincon11 and he was just as cool in person as he is on his blog.   I left determined to guest post on his site, but what the heck was I going to write about?

While driving home I was listening to the audio book of Napleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich and a story in the book resonated me and gave me the idea I was looking for.   I immediately called my transcription service to talk out the email that I was going to send Pat with my new proposal.

In a way, I expected him to say no.  Not because he's a mean dude; just that the idea might not fly.  I prepared myself to be let down.

Turns out that I was just being a "negative Nancy".  He said "Yes". Laugh

The post is live on his site today:  http://www.smartpassiveincome……g-results/

I know many of you try to guest post for some of the bigger bloggers and get discouraged when they say no or never respond.  I wanted to share this story so that you understand it takes time and patience.

Pat and I first had dialogue in 2008.  Fast forward to several emails, commenting on his blog, interviewing him for my site, and finally meeting him in person all led to the guest post.

The moral of the story is: stick with it, build, build, build relationships, and keep writing epic sh!t.

That is a great coup.  And it is a great post too.

I actually had a guest post on SPI once but it was so long ago that his blog wasn't much more popular than mine.
