Howdy Folks,

We're in the middle of the summer and I've noticed traffic and business is about 20-30% slower than other months. I wrote a post on Yakezie.com entitled, "Seasonal Traffic Trends For The Year" which state June-August, and December are the slowest months of the year.

I'd like to rekindle this discussion year and have folks pitch in who follow these boards, or through search over time.

Please share what your slowest months and fastest months are.

Thanks!

Sam

Sam,

just checked my trafic back to January 2012. It seems that in 2012-2013 my worst trafic months was August (small wonder since a lot of people are on holiday in August). This year May-June were not brilliant either – too much sport to watch, is what I'm thinking.

it's same for us all I guess. June through August and then December are my slow months historically.

For me, interestingly, the last few years have seen spring and summer provide a little bit better traffic than in other months.  Who knows why. That being said, my site does follow the normal pattern as far as days of the week go (weekdays better).

Let's see if August really is as bad as some think. Hope not, but it makes sense that it would be slow.

Late winter/ early spring is my slow time, from February to April and then in May things start to pick up again.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

July is down…the combo of summer and a long 4th of July weekend did some damage…you can literally see a 1/3 of the usual traffic for about a week surrounding the 4th. I was strongest in June though, surprisingly.

Summer for me as well as December.  Last summer I tried to post something every day to see if it helped.  It didn't, so this summer I have a much more relaxed writing schedule.

Anytime there is a big holiday, such as july and december are down for me.  Now that school is starting I'm definitely noticing a traffic increase.  It was really frustrating over the summer when I was really concentrating on page rank to have my traffic decline!

Interesting to know Melissa. I think that's a good conclusion. No need to fight the trend by posting more,
but to just use the downtime to relax more during slow months.

My traffic has been increasing oddly enough but I think that has more to do with me being able to post more frequently than once a week.

I've also increased my social media activity. If this is slow then I'm excited to see the pickup!

I've noticed that summer has definitely been slow around my neck of the woods as well : ) It's fine, I am just trying to adjust my expectations.

Looking back, I notice that August and November are typically slow months for Couple Money. Oddly enough, things bounce back quickly in December.

My blogs don't have strong traffic trends. My freelancing business tends to be busiest in August because staffers are on vacation and December because people are trying to use up budgets.

In my mere 1 year of experience, I've noticed December to be a boon time for traffic. Maybe it's because lots of people are online shopping for gifts and then they get overwhelmed and turn to reading things online to procrastinate from the task of gift buying.

August showed a pretty significant fall in traffic for me as well. Its nice to know I wasn't the only one.

I guess no one is particularly interested in saving money whilst they are drinking pina coladas on the beach!!

August 2014 saw a -16% MoM decline in traffic. September looks like it's inching back +11% MoM.

Summer months for me (June-August). As soon as September rolls in, it's all dandy again. There's a tendency of a slow down in December, but not as bad anyway.
