Do you know a good plugin for backing up for the purpose of moving server?

The wordpress import/export function only work well with small sites.

If your file is bigger than 8MB(?), then it won't import.

I did this when I moved server a couple of years ago, but don't remember how to do it anymore.

Thanks

Backup Buddy is my personal favorite. It will backup you files and your date and reinstall in minutes.

I've always done it through the cPanel. Simply go to phpMyAdmin, click on the database name in the left sidebar, click on the "export" tab and click go. On the new server, you create a new database in the MySQL database wizard, go into phpyMyAdmin, click on the database name in the left sidebar and click on the "import" tab.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I do the backups on cpanel. To move servers I outsourced the gig on Fiverr and the guy had it done in a couple of hours.

Joe, if you're still planning to move, I'll be glad to move the site over for you. Just send me an email if that's what you decide to do.

Backup Buddy is great for that.  cPanel works too.

Have you asked the new host if they will move the site for you?

I find that cPanel is more complete, but you have to know how to do it.
