Somehow, the character encoding on every single one of my CSS files on a few of my sites got messed up. That's why my site appeared broken this morning. If I open a CSS file in cPanel and set the encoding to UTF-8 and resave it, that CSS file will load properly. But the ones I don't do this step appear garbled. Here is an example: bad css file

There are a LOT of CSS files and it would take me ages to open them one by one. Does anyone know a way to  change the encoding of files in bulk, either through cPanel, FTP, or webDAV?

Wish I could help you here – I haven't had encoding issues yet (online, anyway).  My first instinct would be downloading everything, converting locally, and re-uploading.  On the desktop, I would use iconv (UNIX, your choice everything else.)

Thanks for the tip. I don't have a UNIX workstation laying around, but the command should be similar if not the same on my Ubuntu laptop. Now i just have to download and re-upload 2GB worth of files. :/
