Is there a plugin you all use to prevent against clickbombing on your adsense ads? Over the past 3 or 4 days I've been about ten times the amount of clicks on my ads as normal. My traffic hasn't been much different over this time period so I don't know what's going on. I just want to do whatever I can to make sure I don't get in any trouble with the big G if the activity isn't legit in some way.

Sometimes when that happens to me I report myself to Adsense – I use StatCounter so I can see the IP the clicks come from, then I just let them know, "Hey, I got all these clicks and they weren't me. I've blocked that IP now."

is there anything with adsense or google analytics that will show me the IP? I turned off my ads as a precaution until I get everything figured out.

There are some click bomb defense plugins however I would contact adsense to let them know. This alerts them to the situation which will help you in the long run.

Thanks, after digging around in my stats it looks like some (a?) visitors from Germany were clicking an average of 2 ads per page view. I've notified Google, there's no way all that activity can be legit. Too bad, I really liked what my balance looked like!
Anyone have a favorite plugin to prevent this kind of stuff?

I've had a couple of my sites clickbombed the past few days as well. I've removed my adsense for now but would be interested if there is some kind of plugin to prevent these attacks.

I've noticed the same thing with my adsense activity over the last few days. Can someone recommend a plugin?
Never mind. Saw Andrea's comment about StatCounter. Just signed up and installed the plugin. Thanks Andrea!

I'm getting ready to apply for adsense so this was great post to read. I will definitely install statcounter as soon as I get established.

I've noticed this as well the past week or so. My fiance's blog was also affected.

I can't believe it, it happened to my site as well. Thanks for the info on how to handle! What a crappy feeling taking time to figure out how to give money back.

it has happened to my site now too! geez!
so a couple of questions
1) how do you report yourself to Google Adsense to let them know about the issue not being yourself?
2) is there a way to deactivate adsense ads temporarily without removing the code from my site?
Thanks!

Good to hear you got it figured out! where did you end up finding the IP stats associated with the adsense clicks? adsense.com or google analytics?

I couldn't find any IP stats. But playing around with the stats on adsense.com I was able to add in a layer showing clicks by country. After I did that I noticed I was getting a suspicious amount of clicks from Germany compared to the page views from that country.

Nice! So it looks like one of my two sites (carnivalofpassiveinvesting) was click bombed by our mutual Germany friend/bot, but my main site was clickbombed by someone in the USA..

Apparently I was a victim of this as well. Now my Adsense account has been disabled. I've only had Adsense for about 2 weeks so this probably doesn't make me look too good. Does anyone have any experience with trying to get your Adsense account reactivated?

Sorry to hear about that! You could try to request a reconsideration, specifying that you had invalid clicks. You can report it by clicking the help button on the top right side of your adsense account window. Then, follow the instructions to "report."

Our Adsense has also been disabled. Ugh. I've just uploaded StatCounter, but obviously I can't see who was clicking on those ads prior to the upload. We self-reported these clicks yesterday, and filed an appeal today. Hopefully, we'll get the account back. Any advice peeps?

You know, as technically advanced as Google is, you'd think they would start catching on to how many people are affected by this and NOT ban the innocent victims! haha
