Commenting Problem at BFS

It was just brought to my attention that at least one fellow blogger cannot comment on my site and hasn't been able to comment for months.  They get a 500 Internal Error after timing out.  Has anyone else had this problem at my site?  Has anyone heard of this problem and know a way to fix it?

My site speed according to one of those tests Daniel at Sweating the Big Stuff mentioned was 8 seconds for first timers and 3 or 4 for return visitors supposedly – not awful but not fantabulous, but I doubt that's the problem, right?

Thanks guys!  Then I'm stumped.  I'll tell our fellow blogger that's having issues that it seems to be on their end and see if it may work better in a different browser or something…I really like them so we'll get it to work one way or another, lol.  Thanks again!

Crystal, a 500 internal error typically means a server side problem and not a client side issue.  Any hosted shared blog might get this from time to time.  This usually means the blog is unavailable (for whatever reasons, overload, upgrade etc.) and the user tried to access exactly at the same time.

If the same reader tries now he/she should be able to access your site.  But if this happens very frequently, it simply means your site is getting very popular and you might have to move your host! :)

That is exactly what I thought first too!  But, this commenter has had this problem at my site at least 4 times in the last 3 months.  It seems coincidental that they just happened to try commenting at the exact same time my host had problems 4 times in a row.  Also, I only get 100-200 visitors a day right now so I doubt Host Gator can't take it…

Hence my frustration…

Adding another data point, I have not had any problems at all commenting on your site. I'm obviously a regular at BFS and have been for quite a long time, so that should alleviate some concerns of a broad reaching problems.

Cool beans!  Suba figured it all out and can comment now!  Woot!  Thanks everybody!  I am so glad it wasn't a site problem on my end…that would have completely sucked…
