Hi all,

I just started my blog and have found that I am very drawn to the topics covered by Yakezie members/blogs.  So I am very interested in getting started with the challenge.  That said, however, I have only been up and running for about 2 weeks, writing 3 articles a week (will be more, but a lot of time spent on layout of the site up to this point).  Is there a recommended amount of content to have written before beggining the challenge?  Site is http://www.thriftgenuity.com.  Any other advice about the site or otherwise is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

You can join the challenge at any point. It doesn't really matter at what point you start, although your very first post probably shouldn't be about joining the challenge. Since you already have half a dozen posts, that shouldn't be a problem for you.

Writing 3X per week is fine; there are several of us that do so. You will grow faster and larger if you write every day, but it is a matter of how much effort you are willing to make, how much time you have to devote to it, and what your ultimate goals are. I've accepted slower growth for more time to spend on other projects and hobbies.

Besides the work you do on your own site, there is a pretty proven path of success. It involves being active on these forums and commenting on other blogs. The next time Yakezie teams get organized (keep an eye in the Blogger's Lair sub-forum in a couple months), join. Teams are basically mini-Yakezies of mutual support including socially sharing and commenting on each other's posts. It's a good idea to participate in carnivals, both submitting to and occasionally hosting. Both ways bring backlinks to your site.

Also, it's a good idea to make a signature for the forums here and put your URL in there, so it shows up on every post you make. The forums are well indexed by Google and, even though the links are nofollow, if somebody searches for something and comes to a forum post you commented in, that's a free eyeball to your link.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Starting is the important first step. You learn a lot as you go.  Having your layout set will mean you don't have to worry about that as you write and comment.  Welcome aboard.

Thanks to both comment.  I have updated the signature (took me a few minutes to figure that out Smile).  And I expect to get more content in more quickly now that my general setup is ready to go.

Sounds like I can go ahead and officially jump into the Yakezie challenge.  I will certainly be on the look out for the teams and carnivals.

I am very excited about these forums and community.  Everyone seems very helpful.  Thanks again.
