Hi Everyone – This is my first post here. About a month ago, I started my site. http://www.smartbudgeting.me.

I was a bit overwhelmed at first but have started to understand the language. My question is: should I go self hosted so that I can customize the site and add plugins like Google Analytics or is it to early to make a move like that? I have looked into the three Wordpress recommended hosting sites.

I am worried that making a change later would just cause problems.

Any advice from those with more experience is appreciated.

You are never too new to be self hosted. With options like Hostgator at less than $5 per month, it isn't a big investment. Here is my page on how I run my websites. (I also offer a service where I help people make the move and run Wordpress sites).

That said, you don't need a plugin to add Analytics tracking. You can just add that code in a widget even with the free hosted Wordpress.com sites. There are lots of major benefits to self hosting beyond that plugin though. I highly suggest self hosting to anyone who is looking at blogging long-term.
