Howdy Folks,

I'm going on my annual international trip this July and am wondering if anybody has ever been to Zurich, Frankfurt, or Mallorca?

My ultimate destination is Mallorca, but there are no direct flights from SF. Hence, I figure I might as well take the scenic route and explore NYC, Zurich, and Frankfurt.

Heard Frankfurt city center is only 15 minutes away by train from the airport where Ill have a day to explore. I'll be in Switzerland for a week, so I figure I should explore some little villages by train and sleep on some park benches given I hear it costs $20 for a McDonald's happy meal!

Thanks for any tips.

Best,

Sam

I spent a day in Frankfurt last month on the way to Israel. I suggest taking the train out to the downtown outdoor mall area and making your way down to the river. Make sure to have a cold German beer by the Rhein. Also, try to swing through the town square (I don't know the name, but it's by the river) that has the old German architecture. Very cool to see.

Thanks Eric. I'll be sure to do that. Is Israel a fun place to go visit for vacation? I might have to hit that and Egypt next year.

I've been to Zurich and Frankfurt, but a very very long time ago so I don't have specific suggestions. But I second the river idea. And if you can stay here during your Swiss travels I want to hear all about it :)

Wow, cool hotel! Looks a little tough to get to from Zurich? I'll definitely take a look. I'll do Zurich and Lucern for the week before Mallorca. Just gonna bring a medium size backpack and pretend like I'm a recent college graduate wanderlust!

How was the trip???? I dropped a friend off at the Frankfurt airport one time, but that's as close as I've gotten.

FF – It was wonderful! A summer to remember forever. I'm incorporating some things I've learned and some pics I took on my posts on FS if you'd like to take a look.

Oh that's so great!  For some reason the thread is displaying weirdly for me right now, but I'm assuming the pics and experiences will pop up in future posts!  Excited to read about it!
