Five Ways to Get in A Comeback Mindset

You Can find this post also at my site http://www.MakingTheComeback.com

One reason people fail to make a comeback in their lives after a setback is due to their mindset. Positivity is a must to be able to make a comeback. If you are always thinking negatively, then you will always be in setback mode.

Whether you have had money issues, drinking problems, relationship issues, or unemployed; you need to get positive before you can even think about making a comeback. If you attempt to make a comeback with a negative attitude, it will take 2-3 times longer to actually make that comeback. Your negativity will affect every area of your life.

Here are Five Ways to Get In A Comeback Mindset

1) Exercise

Exercise releases pleasure inducing chemicals called endorphins. You have probably heard of people getting “runners highs” and this is caused by these endorphins.

Additionally, exercise will help you become more self confident, feel healthier, and give you more energy. If you are going to make a comeback, exercise is a necessity.

You don’t need start with a 10 mile run to get these benefits. Start small by walking a mile, jog around your block, or do 25 sit ups; then increase that exercise daily. I suggest you read a great article at Nerd Fitness, 25 Ways to Exercise Without Realizing It.

2) Reading Daily

The only way to get good at a sport or musical instrument is to practice it daily. This is the same thing you need to do to create a positive mindset and you can do this by reading every day.

Pick out something positive (not 50 Shades of Gray). I recommend books by Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Dan Miller, or John Maxwell. Pick 15 minutes during the day and just read a little. This habit will have a huge impact on your life.

3) Listening to Podcasts

Podcasts are basically on demand radio shows you can find on iTunes. I know many of us enjoy listening to the radio or Glen Beck telling us the world is going to end, but podcasts are a great way to get a positive mindset.

If you don’t know where to start, then I suggest checking out my friend’s site at,The Leadership Dojo, and pick a few of the podcasts he recommends. Put these on your smart phone and listen to them while you drive to work or while exercising.

4) Thank You Notes

To get in a comeback mode, gratitude plays a role. An easy way to become more grateful is to write Thank You notes each week.

These notes do two things. They make you feel really good when you write them and they also make the person who receives them feel really good too! I’m not an expert on Thank You notes, but Matt McWilliams has some good stuff on the topic.

5) Sleep

I used think the most successful people run on like 3 hours of sleep a night, now I realize most of those people probably need medicated. It doesn’t do any good if you are up half the night stressing, watching television, or surfing the internet.

Sleep will help you get in a better mind set by reducing stress, increase focus, reducing risks of depression, and repairing your body. It is almost impossible to make comeback on less than seven hours of sleep per night.

I realize you may think it is impossible to do all of these things. If you are having trouble finding the time then utilize your drive time, wake up a 1/2 hour early, read over lunch, or take a walk with your kids. The time is there…you just need to make it a priority.

Is there anything you would add to get in a comeback mindset?
