I'm working on a post about paychecks and I wanted to get a confirmation from one of the many tax professionals that are a part of Yakezie.
My understanding of how w-4 withholding is calculated is that your tax rate is calculated based on that individual paycheck. so if one paycheck has only $100 on it you'll be taxed assuming that each paycheck would be only that amount. but if the next paycheck where to be a thousand dollars then that check would be taxed at a rate that assumed that you would be getting a year's worth of 1000 dollar checks.
Is that how the system works?

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Withholding is the amount of taxes that are taken out of your paycheck every pay. This amount builds up, basically like a savings account, and when you calculate your taxes at the end of the year, the amount of your withholding is applied to the amount that is due. If you withhold too much, you will get a tax refund. If you didn’t withhold enough, then you will owe additional taxes.
