Hey guys,

So I've had my blog for over a year now, and I did get my Alexa rank under 200,000 after about 8 or so months, but my Google Page Rank has been stuck at a 3 for ages. Does anyone have any tips on improving both ranks besides guest posting on other blogs and entering blogger carnivals? Just thought I'd ask in case I'm missing anything.

Cheers!

Getting to a PR3 in a year is actually very good.   I think it took me about 2+ years to get to a PR4 and seems like 3.5 years to get to a PR5.

I wish I could tell you the exact reason my site go to that level but the things I've focused on the most:

  1. Tons of guest posts.  Not just blogs but also more major sites like Equifax and US News.  It's nice when these get syndicated to Yahoo Finance or Reuters and they keep the links intact.  The trick is getting sites that have a PR much higher than yours link to you.  Guest posting is one of the easiest ways to do this.
  2. YouTube.   I've done quite a few YouTube videos and strategically link back to my blog
  3. Blog Carnivals.   Sometimes I still question if Blog Carnivals are still worth it especially with Penguin.  I have my VA do it so for now I'll keep submitting away.

Jeff: Did you actively seek out the guest posting opportunities on Equifax, US News, etc. or did they come find you?

@ Michael  Good question and honestly don't remember.  Embarassed   I think Equifax sought me out but US News I might have approached them because I noticed other bloggers writing for them like CashMoneyLife, MoneyNing, and PT Money.

Well done on achieving under 200,000 and a page rank of 3!! That's amazing.

I've been writing my blog for 6 months and i'm 800,000 and page rank 2.

Is anyone here interested in receiving a guest post? I know it always comes down to the quality and relevance of a post. Below are some examples of the type of work I'd provide or my writing style. Any general feedback on the site is also greatly appreciated. I'd really like to get my site out there and try to break that 200k Alexa goal.
