Howdy Folks,

Anybody going to WDS in Portland this July? I'm tempted to go, but I'm always a last minute planner given something always comes up. I'm also hesitant to spend the $510 conference fee sadly enough. But, what's money amongst friends right?

I'd love to get an idea of what is going so I can make a better decision. Might be chicken or the egg. There are still 350 tickets left in case you are wondering as of 1/17/2013 9:45am PST.

Thanks,

Sam

Regards,

I always consider it, but it has not made it up to the top of the list just yet. I would love to hear past experiences to decide if it is worth it.

My wife and I bought tickets.   We still have to figure out our kids situation, but we're hopeful to make it.   This will be my 1st time attending.

Not going, but just looked and saw that they're down to 40 tickets left at 9pm on 1/21…

Nice Jeff. Will be interested in hearing your feedback and comparing it to Fincon, which I think is great.

As a PF blogger, I can't help but feel bullish about 1,000 tickets being sold for $500 each. Add another $500-$1,500 for hotels, food, flights etc and this is quite a pretty expense for a weekend. Can this be taken as a good anecdote for the economy and a reflection of how lucrative it is online for the whole community? I hope so as I'm always optimistic.

Thanks

PS Business expense too whoo hoo!

Sam

I know a few people who went last year. The big difference between WDS and FinCon is that WDS has no sponsors – that's why the tickets are so expensive. It's also much larger and has a *lot* more attendees. I've never heard anyone say they regretted attending. I'd love to go but I had to choose between WDS and another trip this year, and the other trip won.

Andrea, didn't know there were no sponsors.
Very cool! I don't mind sponsors at conferences at all. Actually, I really enjoy learning about new businesses and potential partnerships as we bloggers are also running our little businesses as well. I appreciate anybody who tries to start.

Read 200 folks just went to hang out in Portland anyway. Could be a fun alternative too.

I'm going! I bought first round tickets. You're right, it can be written off! That makes me feel a little better about recklessly throwing down that much money. But I figure, I'll save a bunch on not having to leave my town. Plus, I like playing tour guide barbie, so if you come, look me up!

I'll be attending as well since it's in town. Last year, Jeff (Money Spruce) went and he liked it. I think he's going again this year. There were quite a few PF blogger here last year.

Phillip from PT money, Frugal beautiful, etc…

I just dropped by to say hi last year since I wasn't able to get a ticket.

Hi Joe, if one can't get a ticket, do you think it's worth it to drop by and hang out? Portland is close to SF, and I wouldn't mind seeing some folks, going to dinner, and grabbing drinks in general.
