Just Stopping In To Introduce Myself

Not 100% sure if I'm putting this in the right section so mods feel free to move this post if necessary.  I didn't see any other "introduction posts" off hand.

My name is Eric Lowery and I went from making $20,000/month in real estate sales during the big boom to $2,000/month as a cop (a job I thoroughly enjoy).  My big money led me to big debt and in late 2009 I filed Chapter 7.  The day after my discharge I landed in the hospital for nearly a week and walked out with a $70,000 medical bill.  Luckily I had good insurance so I didn't have to pay the full amount, but having to work light duty and take off what seemed like a million unpaid government holidays, it really put the pinch on my wallet.

Today, I'm finally starting to rebuild my financial life and I'm creating a chronicle of my story on my personal website http://www.ericlowery.com.  I just set out to start this Yakezie Challenge thing, and I'd be honored if any of you in this network would share their thoughts with me by commenting on my posts from time to time.

For now, I just want to say hello and thank you!  I'm looking forward to reading all of your wonderful posts!

Welcome to the challenge Eric! Your story sounds very interesting and quite different from most of the other members of Yakezie that I have had the pleasure of reading about thus far.

The proper place to introduce yourself for the challenge is in the Yakezie Challengers Forum thread. You'll be sure to get a warm welcome there!

You should also make a quick note on your site telling your readers that you have joined the Yakezie challenge. You can read my Yakezie intro post here if you are interested.

Good luck in the challenge!

Yeah I saw the "Challengers Forum" right after I posted this.  Don't know how I missed it!  Oh well!  Thanks for the warm welcome anyway.  I'm still trying to get acquainted so I really appreciate it!

Yeah, I was averaging about 4 houses sold a month with an average commission of $5k per house.  It was nice while it lasted.  Lived off my savings for a LONG time trying to continue in the business.  There's still good money in it if you are in good with the banks.  Unfortunately, I am not…. but I am still licensed and now just help my friends here and there.  Being a cop is a lot more fun, but not as financially rewarding.  My girlfriend and I are on track to own some multifamily property in full over the next few years.  Investment property is my ticket out of law enforcement, but I can't get an FHA loan to buy anything until my bankruptcy is two years out (October 2011) so it's time to save hard right now.

This network is amazing by the way.  I'm blown away by all the support here! Thanks everyone!
