I've just joined the Yakezie challenge, after seeing my blogger friend Broke Professional post about it so often. I actually expected it was some type of elite club and I'm happy to find out that it's not.

My blog is hard to describe without people offering to fold a tinfoil hat for me. I'm a Doomer – and that means that I firmly believe that we have reached Peak Oil and are about to crash hard, as we are absolutely unprepared. In brief, my blog details my family's journey to preparedness and works hard at getting others to think about it, too.

When I started the blog, I didn't really expect to have any readers. Now, like it or not, I'm pretty much branded as Canadian Doomer … owner of the blog Canadian Doomer!  LOL My loyal readers call me C.D.

At the moment, my Alexa rank is 466,527 and of course my goal is to get better than 200K by November 4, 2011!

C.D.

Neat (not in the sense that it is neat that we could be heading towards disaster….but neat in the sense that I'm interested to see how you are preparing–hahaha!)! I'll definitely check out your blog.

Welcome to the Yakezie C.D.! Sounds like you'll be a great addition to the team. As for what's next, just participate in the forums and selflessly promote others. They will, in turn, promote you as well. You should see your Alexa Rank drop like a rock. Based on how low it is already, I suspect that you'll be below 200,000 in a few weeks, no lie. Good luck to you!

Look forward to seeing you there, Frugal Confessions. Our prepping style is slightly different than many of the "official" survivalists and preppers – no guns, no freeze-dried food that keeps 25 years in the basement, no fortified bunker in the wilderness. With some exceptions, I encourage local food, processed at home in traditional ways, and the building of sustainable skills instead of ordering "A Year's Food Storage" from a factory. I've rubbed some of the survivalists the wrong way because of that!

I've never had a problem promoting others. That's in part how I met Broke Professional – I linked to his blog and sent my readers over to check out his Eat From the Pantry Challenge. And when someone suggested that I remove my blogroll, other readers cried that they use my blog roll to do their daily blog reading!

However, if there's something specific that's meant by "selflessly promote others", please tell me.

466K is low? I watch that stupid score like a hawk (Broke Professional would be shaking his finger at me, I'm sure!), and drive my husband nuts with it. I really, really want to be in the 100K group. If I can get to 200K, I'll get a domain name.

Welcome CD! I've only been a Yakezie for a week, but I know this is a great group. I've read a lot about peak oil, Hubbert curve, Jeff Rubin, Peak Oil inst., etc. I just hope there will not be a massive die-off like some predict. There's no doubt we need to change our ways, and leave oil before it leaves us. I look forward to reading your blog.

I look forward to seeing your comments! Now I'm off to write my latest installment in Collapse. I didn't expect my readers to love it as much as they do, and now they want a scene every Friday! :D If anyone comes over and reads it, please realize that it's a rough draft, being published as I write it. When it's finished, I'll edit it and polish it, and then release an ebook.

Well, my Alexa's a bit better than yours at the moment, but you have more experience and more connections, so I expect you'll have a better score at the end of six months. Then again, I can get away with writing about zombies and you can't.  :P (It's a keyword with low competition but hundreds of thousands of searches per month – go figure.)

(Someone should have warned me I'd have to do math after joining. Boo hiss.)
