Hey all.

A few years ago, I had a few relatively decent personal finance and investing sites. Since I worked at a Big Four accounting firm, I spent a number of nights each week in hotels rooms hundreds of miles from home. As such, writing content was a great way to blow off some steam after a long day of looking at financial statements.

Once I left that job, I found another 4 miles from my house. After a few months of working 'human hours', I rediscovered that I married perhaps the coolest girl on the planet. How she put up with me being away so much is still a mystery to me. In an effort to focus on my family, I pretty much let all of my sites die a slow painful death. Even though they were small (PR 3 or less) they developed a relatively decent following.

Fast forward six years…..my oldest son is now 5, we were blessed with another son 10 months ago, and I am still married to the hottest, most loving woman on the planet. The only problem is that I do not have anyone to talk to about personal finance. I know that sounds strange but I love this stuff. My wife, on the other hand, simply could not care less.

With that being said, I have decided to join the challenge in order to network with other similarly minded bloggers. My Alexa ranking is a staggering 15,395,344. I have not found any site that had a higher starting rank so I certainly have my work cut out for me.

Over the next few weeks, my goal is to establish a healthy publishing schedule and create a bunch of guest posts to get the ball rolling. I am not sure if I will be able to get my ranking below 200,000 in six months but I am going to have fun trying Cool

Hi all,

I a new challenger here on Yakezie, I'm glad I found the site and I'm looking forward to connecting with the group.  I'm not new to blogging but my site is new Your Money Mentor.  I first started to blog in 2010, for my business site.  I preferred to start a new site because I would like to add more of my personality to the site.  My business site has my business information etc.  So I'm always cautious of what I'm blogging about.

Regarding my alexa stats, the widget is installed but i do not have a rank yet?  Maybe because the site is new, if any one can shed some light on how i can get a ranking that will be great.  I never used ranking for biz site, because my goal was not to measure traffic, etc.  So alexa is new to me.  I'm not afraid of a challenge so I'm looking forward to getting busy and making the goal of 200,000 in six month.

(I apologize for the duplicate post, i originally posted in other area.)

Thanks everyone,

Hi Everyone,

I've only been blogging for a month or so but I'm pretty happy with my progress so far and I'd like to kick it up a notch. That's why I've decided to join the Challenge. My current Alexa rank is 1,430,385 so I've got quite a ways to go before I hit the 200k mark. I'm looking forward very much to networking with all of your and growing our respective blogs together!

Dollar D, welcome to the challenge. Your site looks great. Yakezie is a great place. Yet, I didn't see a post about you joining the challenge. Also, make sure that you put up the yakezie badge.

Also, be sure to take advantage of the signature in this forum so that others can have an easy way to visit your site.

I don't think I've introduced myself here yet. But my current alexa is at around 366,000. It used to be a lot lower, but then I bought my own domain so I had to start over. I'm excited!

I am officially signing up for this challenge!

My name is Nicole, and I write and manage The Budgeting Babe, a personal finance blog that's been around since 2004. I had some moderate success early on, with appearances on national news shows and quotes in financial press. But around 2009 my work life was increasingly busy and I had major writer's block, so I put the old site on an indefinite hiatus. I came back in October 2010 with a new site, a new platform (WordPress), and a newfound focus, but unfortunately the PF blog world has changed A LOT since 2004 and I've had a difficult time finding readers. I was considering shutting down the site (in fact, I didn't post at all from October through December 2011), but in January 2012 put a renewed focus on my writing and content and I've been seeing good results.

I'm currently at Alexa rank 613,915, which is GREAT considering that when I installed the toolbar one month ago I was at 1.9 million. Cracking the top 200,000 does seem like a possibility – my fingers are crossed that I can do it by August.

I look forward to meeting you on these forums all in coming weeks and months – and maybe even some of you in person at the PF blogger conference in September in Denver?

Thanks so much to the organizers of this site. I'm thrilled to be working with you all!

Welcome, Nicole. Yours is one of the first PF blogs I read – I'm glad to hear that you're back in business for 2012!

I will definitely be at FINCON12. I'm counting down the days. Last year was SO amazing! Once you meet everyone in person, it gives you so much inspiration to keep going and make changes/improvements. It was a great experience and I bet this year will be even better.

Welcome to the challenge!  You will find your Alexa ranking improving rapidly!

I suggest you create a signature like you see other Yakezie forum members use.  That puts a link to your blog in every post here.

Hello fellow challengers!
Today is the day I am joining the Yakezie Challenge.  My name is Jason but I blog by the name of JB at Dollariety.  I started Dollariety, a personal finance blog, as a way to get my financial act together with the help of a community, and secondly to share and help anyone I can.  I am exactly 20 days into my blogging journey.

I am 42 years old with a great family (wife, 3 kids, 1 dog, 2 goats, about a dozen chickens – it's a long story I will share some time) living in West Michigan.  I have a very successful career and a high-income by most standards, but I am not satisfied with the wealth I have accumulated.  Spending always seems to expand to consume available money.  I've never been deeply in debt, just not getting where I want to be as quickly as I would like.  That is why I started the blog – to create accountability to get myself on track and help others along the way.

I am starting this journey with a rockin' Alexa ranking of 10,635,440… but here is the cool part – yesterday I spent a lot of time looking around the Yakezie forums and ultimately decided to join today.  Also, yesterday my Alexa ranking was 14,555,538.  Right there is the Power of the Yakezie – 3.9M just by THINKING ABOUT JOINING!  No way I can't hit 200k with that kind of juice.

I am a nerd going way back (computer science degree, etc) but do not have any experience with blogging, SEO and all the other new fangeld web stuff.  So expect a lot of questions.   Lots.

I look forward to getting to know all of you better!

I checked out your site and left a comment.  I like the flow and overall layout of your site!Smile

That's so cool!  It's interesting — I've heard from a few bloggers that The Budgeting Babe was one of the first they read, but I've definitely fallen far off the map while others have surged ahead. I am 100% pumped for FINCON12. Meeting others bloggers in person will be very helpful and even just following the tweets from last year was inspirational. Thanks!

Evening everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know I am on board for the Yakezie challenge. My current Alexa rank is 584,881 — Been operating since late 2011 and look forward to growing in 2012.

I have to admit I was a bit discouraged when Google had its most recent pageranking and I went from PR0 to PR0, but I am determined to get an audience.

Hopefully my articles will be entertaining, but more importantly I want them to be semi-unique.

About myself: 25 year old accountant, currently taking CPA exam, I purchased a home with the $8,000 credit in 2009 and completed a $20,000 rehab on the home. I currently have about $12k in liquid assets and an estimated $30k of equity in my home.

I look forward to getting to know the community and hopefully having plenty of article swaps and back link building!

When I was studying for the CPA exam there was no way I could have joined the challenge. If I had an hour a night away from studying I considered myself lucky.

Good luck to you my friend! Let me know if you want to guest post on my small, but growing, blog!
