Congrats!! I was watching you approach 200k this past week. I'm hoping I'll break through next week.
You are close. I see you at 240k right now. You should be able to drop it below 200k by the end of the week. Good luck!

Alright, after 36 days, I have broken the 200k mark . I am now down to 180,515 and proud of it. I started over 2 million and have worked hard to get it below 200k. Since I did it in a little over a month, I am going to see if I can crack 100k by the time my challenge is over in May. Thanks everyone that has helped so far. I appreciate it!
You should be proud, nice work! Best of luck assaulting 100k.

I would love an analysis of how you did this. I'm stuck like Chuck in the 400Ks. Can you tell me what your daily traffic numbers are? Thanks!

Nothing special. Just made sure to get a lot of other bloggers to the site, which I know had the toolbar installed. I have the widget installed. I am fluctuating with my traffic, but I know that traffic really doesn't matter with the alexa stats. In fact, it has little to do with traffic.

Well, that's a little discouraging then. If Alexa has little to do with traffic, then I wonder what the point is of worrying about it. You definitely have a nice group of very engaged readers and commenters, so well done! And congratulations!

It is really the only way that you can measure people's websites without getting their direct traffic stats, so I understand why many groups and people use it as a unit of measure. Once you get past a certain number, then traffic will help you keep it down, but that number is usually pretty low. I have been dealing with alexa rankings for years, so I know how it works. I tend not to worry about it much. I produce content, network, and just build the website. The number will fall.

Well, I've managed to move from the millions to 400K, but I seem to be stuck there with one month to go on this challenge timeline, so I guess I'll keep cranking out the content and see what happens! Thanks for the dialog!

It's one of many metrics that, when added together, are beneficial to your site. Traffic, page rank, Alexa rank, moz Rank, domain authority, page authority, Twitter followers, number of comments. They're all worthy benchmarks that each blogger provides weight towards in creating a formula for how well their site is performing. Alexa should be nowhere near 100% but it probably shouldn't be at 0% either.

Hello Yakezie!
I joined the Challenge today, December 31st, 2012 and hope that with the new year I can make some great strides with my blog. My current Alexa rank is 552,961 for wealthnote.com.
My main reason for joining the challenge is I have been working on the blog for over a year, mainly as a side hobby to help me learn things about investing and finance. I am a student working on a degree in finance, and since I like to write I thought I would give blogging a whirl in order to learn new things and hopefully help others. Recently I have hit a lull and haven't been satisfied with the quality of my blog.
I feel like I am losing focus and I haven't really made the connections with new people like I was hoping when I first started the blog. I made a lot of mistakes with the blog, and have focused on some of the wrong things. Almost 200 posts later and I am barely reaching 20 visits a day.
This year I want to change all that. I want to improve the quality of my posts. I have a few posts I am really proud of, but I want all my posts to add great value to the site. I want to find more focus for the site, get to know my readers, and meet others who are on the same journey I am on.
I am really excited about this challenge and can't wait to work hard to reach my goals. After reading some of the posts on these forums I see there are lots of great people with a lot to offer, and I hope I can do the same.
Wish me luck!

Your stuff certainly looks like it merits more than 20 visits a day… hang in there! I've followed and subscribed. Good luck in 2013!

Welcome Levi. I am sure with the right connections you can get your visitors up there. I just followed you on twitter and pulled in your RSS feed. You have good content and I would be happy to share it. Welcome to the challenge!

I just switched over to full feeds. I was doing the summery just because in the past I was more focused on bringing in the impressions and trying to up my ad revenue. I have learned the hard way that is doesn't work that way. Focusing on user experience and providing quality content.
Thanks for the welcomes everyone! Really glad I found this site.

Hi , my name is David and I am the owner of Games from Everywhere (.com) I love the concept of this challenge and also the ethos at Yakezie.
I am not sure if I am eligible for this Challenge, but I really like what I have read on Yakezie s far and am keen to at least be a part of the forums. My blog is mainly about Family Hobbies of all kinds. Our blog has just moved from .com.au to .com to reach a larger audience and to monetise our site more effectively. So, we have lost our PR until the next round, but our blog is growing every day and we really enjoy what we do.
Let me know if I am eligible. If not, I won't be offended. I am just as happy to read and contribute to the forums.

Update 40 days in
I joined the Yakezie Challenge on Dec 1 2012 with no Alexa rank. On Dec 6, my Alexa rank was 21,136,799. On Jan 9, my Alexa rank is 1,905,146!
My success is attributed to putting up posts on almost every day. Most of my comments have been on other Alexa ranked blogs which I have found on these forums and on the Alexa linking in information from other successful blogs.
I'm confident that I can reach 200,000 by June 1 2013.

OK, so after 2 months of putting it to Alexa, I have finally dropped below 100k. I did it yesterday and am currently at 98,793! I am pretty happy that I have dropped down below 100k, but since I have 4 more months of the challenge left, I figured I would continue to push it down.
I want to thank many of the Yakezie members for their support and I wish all of the other challengers success as well.
