Hi everybody. I am a new challenger and a bit confused on how to register. I already posted a note on my blog at http://hellosuckers.net/joinin…..challenge/ and added a challenge banner on my website, but not sure if I have done everything correctly. Please, can anyone experienced review and let me know what to do?
Martin,
First of all, greetings fellow Coloradoan! There are a bunch of us here. What part of the state are you in? I'm up in Fort Collins.
There is also a spreadsheet that you need to enter your information into, as it is the official list of all members and challengers. The link is in this thread.
Hi Ed, I am in Vail. It's nice to meet you. I found the list and added myself into it already, so hoping I am good to go. Thanks for letting me know.
Martin

MC, thanks for your kind words. I am glad to hear that the site name is somewhat OK, recently I doubted it and was even thinking to change it. But it originally came from Jesse Livermore and I liked it, so I decided to use it. Not sure however if it is offending name to some or not. I will be truly happy if you stop by and leave a comment, or you can just stop by stay for a moment on the web (while making yourself a cup of coffee or tea :-D before you move on. Thanks a lot.

Hello!
I just joined the Yakezie Challenge and wanted to introduce myself. My Alexa rank is only 1,331,832 but hopefully that will change soon.
I'm Ryan and I've been blogging about credit related issues on my blog The Better Credit Blog since 2007 but haven't really gotten involved in the blogging community until recently. I look forward to meeting some of you and getting more into the community!
I'd also love to write some guest posts if anyone is interested.

Just joined. I have been very successful off-line (have made millions of dollars) and know very little about on-line success. I don't have a lot of time to hang out on-line "making friends" which it seems a lot of what on-line success is about. Not sure how this translates into $ in anyone's pocket. Are people making money from their blogs, at least $10,000 a month? If not, why do they do it?
I understand the models like smartpassiveincome.com and he makes $500,000 a year but what about others, like members here?
For example, who can direct me to instructions on how to increase my Alexa rank? Or how and why networking with other Yakezie members or challengers is of mutual benefit? Or answers to the above. Sorry that these questions are so basic and possibly naive.
Current Alexa rank is 268,266 for http://retirement-income.net/blog/
Thanks for any direction.

Bob- Tips for lowering your Alexa ranking- make friends online. Alexa (and all other web metrics) are about page views. You need people to come to your site. And you need those people to stick around, comment, maybe click on a link to a product you recommend, etc. The way you build that kind of community is by becoming "friends" with your readers. Engage them.
Making friends with other Yakezie members means that they will come and engage on your site. They will likely direct their readers there with a blog round up, or something similar.
He's not a Yakezie member, but I know Mr Money Mustache earns a pretty good living from his blog. (Maybe not $10k/month, but his focus is on living on less, not more). Sam, of Financial Samurai (and founder of Yakezie) also makes money from his blog (though again, I don't think at the level you're talking about, though I could be wrong) and was able to walk away from his job recently.
Very few people make the kind of money you are talking about from blogging, (just like very few people make the kind of money you are talking about in the working world) but those that do will almost all tell you it's because they have built communities.

If people were only creating blogs to earn $10k per month, you would have a very small blog-o-sphere. Building a blog and running it is intensive work. It takes a long time to become profitable, especially when time is money. There are millions of blogs that don't make any money. There are some that make a lot and then there are some that scrap by. People create blogs because they have something that they want to say. Not everyone is in it for the money.

I hope this is not rude, but I don't understand if you are making millions of dollars "off-line" and then ask the question if people aren't making $10,000 a month online, why do they do it? Then can I infer that you are only doing it for potential profit, however, if you are making such money "off-line", then why bother getting into another venture to begin with?

Whoops – just realized I needed to add my name to the spreadsheet – but that's done now. I've made progress since my initial post, and my Alexa has dipped down to 699k (which is down from 1.4 million when I started) in 2.5 months. I know I still have a LONG way to go, but I'm working on it. I enjoy all the comments here to keep me encouraged!!!
Thanks,
AB
