I know many of the more successful blogs charge very decent fees for posting guest posts, but I was curious about how many of you allow free guest posts, and what your rules and limitations are?

- Do you differentiate between guest and sponsored posts?
- If yes, how do you differentiate them.  Do you do it based upon if the site looks like a business?
- Do you charge the same fee for an in-content link as you would for a guest/sponsored post?
- Do you charge an annual fee for links in a guest/sponsored post, or do you allow them to be permanent?

I'm a PR1 so any pricing advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Timothy

If it is a legitimate guest post I don't charge (after review of course!).  If the guest post has links to non-blog entities (law firm, debt help etc.), I simply don't do allow posting – they can opt for sponsored posting though.  It will be mentioned as such.

Some firms have a blog section within their product website, this is too is treated as a sponsored post.  (Some have been abusing Yakezie by linking to their product instead of blogs)

How much depends – Sam's post should be used as a guideline with some wiggle room.

Haha, I was emailing Wealth Artisan and posted here after the email was written and then saw your post.  I'll email you too though with the list I sent Wealth Artisan.  :-)  I basically agreed with you.

LOL! You guys are a riot!  Keep that email MoneyCone, it's definitely helpful if you have any pricing questions.  It's nice to see what the Yakezie Big Wigs charge.

Oh, I am not shy or humble.  Promise.  I just know that sites like Frugal Zeitgeist make me look like a blogging baby, lol.  Let's put it this way – after I signed up to go to the Financial Blogger Conference, I saw that J. D. Roth was going and started doing a happy dance like I won the lotto.  HAHAHA.

I'd be doing the happy dance too! This kind of ties into NarrowBridge's post on Yakezie talking about surrounding yourself with successful people.  I'll just need to talk with you guys more I suppose :).

If it's a legit article from a fellow PG blogger then I wouldn't charge.  Good content is good content and if another blogger can help me publish good content then I'm happy to give them some exposure.

Same here!  Guys like JD and Flexo (among others) paved the way for us.  I'm looking forward to meeting a LOT of people.

When I started out, I would allow free guest posts linking to business websites. However, I started getting way too many of those sent to me, and have since changed to where I charge a fee for linking to business websites but of course let guest posts written by fellow bloggers post for no charge

If it is a fellow blogger I ALWAYS accept guest posts.  In fact, when the Yakezie first started I featured a different yakezie member every Tuesday.

If there is one single business link in there, the convo quickly turns to rates
