Just curious if anyone knows of a place to get good quality photos on the cheap. I've used iStock and flickr. iStock adds up quick though and flickr's photos take forever to search through before something half way decent shows up.
Thanks!
Andrea

I use Creative Commons for all of my pictures. http://search.creativecommons……rg/?beta=1
If there aren't any good ones relevant to the post, I simply don't include a picture.

the best way I could found is to do a google image search. but make sure you select
'Only images labeled for reuse. Conditions might apply' on usage right options, you will get it on 'advanced search option' link.

My favorite is MorgueFile. No attribution required, and they have a pretty good selection of free images. If I get anything from Google Image Search, I always include the base URL in my caption just to be on the safe side.

I use the Photo Dropper plugin that pulls from Flickr Creative Commons. A year or so ago, I actually hired a VA to do most of this for me because I got tired of finding good pics, resizing them, and then running it through Smush.it to reduce the file size. I figure I save 2-4 hours a week outsourcing this.
Another item that I started to do was create my own Flickr account and then upload pictures there: http://www.flickr.com/photos/g…..cialcents/ (Note: I also did this for my Soldier of Finance blog: http://www.flickr.com/photos/5…..48691@N04/)
That way the pictures aren't always hosted on my site and I can include a link to my post in the description field below the picture.
FYI, if anyone needs some good credit card pics, feel free to use some of these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/g…..162178596/

Miss T: Do you have any suggestions or ideas to keep the costs down when using iStock? (I love their service/pics) but the credit costs add up …especially since I've been doing 4 posts a week

I buy them in lump sums, i.e 50 credits for $x. It makes them a bit cheaper per pic. Other than that no major tips to share. I guess I dont mind paying for the comfort of knowing I am covered for copyrights.

I google for images that are OK to reuse or don't seem to be owned by anyone (If I see the same image on 10 different sites then it's fair game). I also use Zemanta.

Flickr creative commons. When you find an image you like, right click on properties for the url. Really quick and easy
