Please help the newbie! Laugh,

What is the magic number of post per week?  I've seen some of you post almost 7x a week and I've seen some of you post every 2-3 days.

What is your posting frequency and why?  Also, do you recycle your articles?  If so why?  If not why not?  How many guest blogs per week/month should I am for?

Thank you in advance for all your replies.

Sincerely,

I typically post a round up every monday, a weekly blog update every tuesday, and then 1 or 2 articles spread between wednesday to sunday of each week.  Many others are better at keeping a posting schedule, I find it less tedious and less stressful if I just write and post as I get the urge.  It's worked out decently so far.

MITR,

Thank you for the prompt reply and the good ideas to stay stress free while on this ride.  Post round up and the weekly blog update definitely are great ideas!

I usually plan for every MWF, then a roundup or something random on either Saturday or Sunday. If I have sponsored or guest posts, they go up on Tues/Thurs. I'm not overly strict about a posting schedule – if I have something to say, I say it. If I don't, oh well. I do try to have something new at least every other day so my traffic doesn't disappear.

That's close to what I do, but I let myself slack off on the weekend roundups.  I try to do that every other week, mostly to post the carnivals I'm in.

I don't let myself slack off on the MWF posts.  If I break that rule once, I'll be more likely to break it again, so I force that schedule, though once in a while, I'll make it a "mail it in" post, like "On the road to FINCON, more next week."

Guest posting is great to do for other blogs, and many are always looking for them, since we have such busy schedules.  I never did enough of these, I believe only 4 guest posts since I started blogging.  But I highly recommend it for many reasons…helping others, and helping yourself!  I know some are trying to do it weekly/monthly.

I try to get 3 real articles each week, generally on weekdays.  Sometimes I'll throw one up on the weekend, or one of my "Quick Tip" mini-posts if I have something that I want to get out there. There's no particular reason, other than to maximize visibility and take advantage of trends and industry insights.

I second this – try to get as many guest posts out as you can – and make sure it's some of your better work (though I find it tough to judget what my best stuff is and is not) Other bloggers love it, and you get a new reader base.

My schedule is MWF and round up on every other Sunday or so. I broke the rule a few times when I really couldn't do it, but generally I was able to stick to the MWF schedule.

I do MWF, round up on Sunday or Sat night and I recycle old stuff if I am pressed for time. Most of my material is 'evergreen' so it makes no difference if it was posted a year ago or today, it should still be relevant.

I've done about 4 guest posts and almost every Yakezie blog swap since I joined in Feb, so around 12-13 guest posts out there with my name on it.

I find that not posting everyday is actually better for traffic, as well as posting to a consistent schedule. Your regular readers have a life too and other blogs they want to read. It also gives time for more comments.

It really just depends on what your schedule is like and how much information you feel that you need to get out there. When I first started, I had so many ideas, posting everyday was needed. I was also unemployed and had plenty of time. Now posting less works better for me.

OK so it seems that everyone posts roughly MWF and guest posts when they can.  Thank you guys for helping me figure out my schedule.  Now just need to be consistent and I should be able to hit my 6 month goals.

I agree with LaTisha about leaving the post up for at least 2 days. It let more people read the post and have time to link back. Think of it like marinating the ribs, gotta take it slow. (Well, dry rub for ribs, but that should be left in the fridge 3-4 hours too.)

I try and hold myself to at least 2 a week. With my schedule (active duty military) that doesn't always happen. Sometimes it's much more, sometimes its a week and a half between posts. Either way, just keep writing. The only one keeping track is you.

Unless you go a month between posts, its likely most of your readers will forgive you.

I post between 4-6 days/week. I try to post M-F and TRY to do a weekend roundup but I've been slacking on that. I do it just to give a variety of topics to my readers. I don't recycle content, mainly because I don't have enough to recycle but mostly because my site isn't really old enough. My goal for October is to get at least 5 guest posts published. This is my biggest blog goal this month to share my thoughts with readers at other sites, and to relieve the workload on other bloggers.
