Yeah, but nobody's searching for that term, according to Google's keyword tool.   Hard to make money on it….

I thought we needed at least 1,000 monthly search for our keyword? I guess I'll go and take thenakedelfplayingguitarintheforest.com then ;-)

I took a keyword that I already dominate with my other sites so I do canibalization ;-) lol! I guess this is called being vertically integrated in the web industry!

I see that some are getting ranked for terms, and even a few that are earning money too!  Way to Go!

Now that I've given you all a proper head start, I've put up my first post.  More to come!

Keep up the good work everyone!

10 articles are published and I'm definitely going to get another ten up before the end of the month. I received a few search engine hits but I don't count it because they were for the specific domain name. I just figure one of you guys were too embarrassed to type the niche url in the address bar or didn't want to let your wife see what you've been browsing lol.

This is a fun challenge. We should have one on a monthly basis. I most also admit that I've been doing all of the writing myself.

True. That's not one of my target keywords. But I've got some good search traffic coming in already Wink

Hey all – as much fun as this is… I am shifting my focus with my site. I realized that it was too broad and wouldn't make for a good niche site (without a lot of work). I may turn it into a niche blog in the next couple of months and try to make money from it that way.

If there is another challenge in the Spring, you can bet on my joining again for a second go at this niche site challenge. I don't like quitting, but sometimes you have to recognize when you are behind and focus on things that are working for you. Plus, I am working on some other things that should turn out fruitful.

Good luck to the rest of the challengers.

Corey

I've barely gotten anything done on my niche site but I'm still getting search traffic.  I'm on page one for some keywords but they are not keywords that get a lot searches.  Considering I'm getting that with only one article and no backlinks the site should do well if I just get around to posting more articles and developing backlinks.

Oh man, we lost one already!  So sorry that we have a dropout.  More opportunity for me to win!

I'm making money on my site already! A whopping $3+ so far, but considering that the domain cost me a whole $0.99 and I stuck it under my hosting plan that I already have, I'm in the black!  Whoot!

I need to spend time tossing up some more articles, but you guys better watch out! I've got a taker for a guest post (thanks Khaleef) and have more targets identified.  I'm also just beginning the backlinking process while adding more articles and plotting out a free ebook.

I'm nowhere near where I want to be for my target key words yet, but I have some serious competition. You guys better bring your "A" game.

2 articles up and 3 more that I have to edit. Once I get these 5 up, I'll start to design it. After 10-15, I'll start looking into the best ways to monetize the site – most likely with affiliate sales.

The top 5 for my keyword are really tough, but I think I can take them…and all of you too! Wink

It's the end of the month.  It's time to check in!  Share how many visits you've had, how much you've made and the position of your first keyword on Scroogle if known.  I'll kick it off.

Visits: 488

Money:  $4.21

Scroogle Position: 65

Considering that I registered the domain on October 31 and started building it the first week in November, I'm pretty happy with the results so far!  Next month I hope to crack the 40's in positioning and who knows, maybe make $10!

Google is killing me with my position. Scroogle had me at 4 yesterday for my keyword…today I'm not even in the top 100!!!

Visits: 239

Unique: 132

I haven't put up any ads or affiliate products yet, so I haven't made any money. I hope to do that this weekend.
