I met the challenge this week.   I thought it would have happened on Saturday, judging by my last couple months of progress, but it didn't.  I cleared 200k on Monday, inched back over it on Tuesday, then came back down today.  Talk about frustrating.

The way I ahve been working to promote the Yakezie is to search for on-topic posts using Saving Money Today's Yakezie Search and add links to almost every post I write.

Not anymore.  Cool

Since the forums opened up and the email list has mostly died, it's felt like the Beta Chapter has lost support.   It's a 200k/6 month test to get involved again, instead of help/support/community.  That makes me sad.

No more.

Now, specifically for Beta Challengers, I've created a custom Google search.   When I write a post, I'll search that for the linky-love, because the Beta Challengers need the juice to meet the Challenge.    I'm going to be working my way through the forum to scrape up all of the Challenger information to add to the search.    If I don't have you on the search, and you are a member of the Beta Chapter, please, either post a comment on the search page, or send me an email at Jason AT LiveRealNow DOT net and I will add you ASAP.

Beta Chapter Search

Now, my challenge to the Beta Chapter:  find a way to promote your fellow Beta Challengers and DO IT! Let's see if we can get everybody to their ranking goal by December.

More importantly, what are you doing to build the Beta Community?

I posted my Yakezie challenger blog and I'm officiially on the list. My website is brand new, so I was actually at over 10 million when I started. Then I got down to 2,512,157, except I've changed urls from thousand-aire.com to thousandaire.com

If there are any really tech savvy people out there, I'd love some help with a 301 redirect. I have the redirect setup for the homepage, but I don't know how to redirect each of the individual posts. The reason it's so difficult is because both sites are hosted on the same server. If you think you might be able to help, send me an email at kevin@thousandaire.com

As far as the community goes, I think all of us Beta Challengers need to do a lot of guest posting. The more guest posts, the more traffic sharing, the more links, the more Yakezie awesomeness!

I wanna be a Thousandaire so freaking bad!

I don't think I clarified my problem well enough. Here's what I want to do:

For example, I want to change the first to the second
_http://www.thousand-aire.com/2010/08/28/havent-made-a-budget/
_http://www.thousandaire.com/2010/08/28/havent-made-a-budget/
I can't use a plugin like 301 simple redirect because it only uses the stuff that comes after the ".com" and in this case, they are both the same.

I wanna be a Thousandaire so freaking bad!

Ah ok. How did you move your blog? I mean didn't you "export" everything from the old blog to your new blog? If you did all that (including back up, you could try this one

http://www.velvetblues.com/web…..date-urls/

If you already tried this and didn't work, you might have to change it in your mysql database. Could you let me know if you already tried the update urls?

I think I found my solution.

Since my site is so new, and anyone who's been on my site in the last week knows that I got thousandaire without the dash, I think I'll just release thousand-aire. It may not be the most elegant solution, but it will definitely direct all my future traffic to the right spot. I will take a small hit on my ranking today, but I think the impact will be minimal and I'll have another 6 months to get it back anyway. As long as I'm posting and driving traffic to thousandaire.com, then I don't think it'll matter.

Thanks for helping though. I'm definitely in the right place for a strong support community. :)

Welcome everyone.  I noticed that my ranking is the worst so far (comparing to everyone who came after me). It's a bit depressing. Cry But there is hope. Right? Wink

Jason's idea would prove to be immensely useful as I am always wandering the personal finance blogosphere to link to some interesting posts by Yakezie challengers.

Hello all … first ever network of this sort that I have joined!  I have been blogging for just over 10 months now and I blog in a couple of different areas.

I joined the Yakezie challenge on the 6th of September and my Alexa ranking was 690,522.

I write about money saving and finance including budgeting and the utilizing of online and computer tools to assist.  Based on personal experience with Debt and Credit, I unfortunately have too close a familiarity with this subject!

In addition to money, I also write about some of my other interests on the site – Science Fiction and Fantasy books & Television shows that I have read and watched.  Customer Service, Operations and Technology is what I do and I have a great interest and passion for this also and like to share some tips and tricks that have helped me over the years to become as successfull as I have done.

I can't wait to become more involved in Yakezie.

Well its been just over a month for me now and I'm happy to report that I'm now at 477,104 on Alexa so a decrease of 213K in that timeframe which is great! :)

I've learned a lot from the other members here not just finance related but also blogging wise which is great.  Thank you all for sharing the knowledge! Cool

Hi,

My name is mike.  With this post.  I'll make it known that I will be joining the yakezie challenge.  I write a blog about my story of renting out my two bedrooms in my townhouse and how the rental income provides financial relief.  I started to rent out my room 5 years ago when I started graduate school, but didn't want to take out student loans and fall in to debt.  As of last year, I graduated with my degree and I still rent out my rooms, but now  I use the rental income to pay off my mortgage debt.  My blog can be found here: http://www.rentingoutrooms.com

My blog is a midst of a re-design so bear with me.  I promise the new layout will be awesome.

As of oct 2nd, my alexa ranking is 1,340,808

I look forward to connecting with new people.

Mike

Give it time. I joined just last week with 2.6 and now I am up to 1.9 mil. It is not a success story, but it is a huge leap.
