Yakezie Member Post – Money Beagle Thumbnail

Greetings from the Beagle!  I blog at Money Beagle.  Although my blog name might suggest that I have at least one beagle, I actually do not.  Beagles are, however, my favorite dog, and I would love to own one someday in the future.  But, since I love beagles so much and since I loved the idea of sharing my money experiences, thus Money Beagle was born!

I started Money Beagle a little over two years ago.  Prior to that, I had stumbled across a few personal finance blogs and thought I had a lot to offer, so I decided to give it a go.  At the time, I was a newlywed, having been married to my wife for about eight months.  Since then, we’ve found out we were expecting and are now the proud parents of Little Boy Beagle.

Money Beagle is focused on the personal side of money, most notably, how it affects me personally!  I tend to shy away from the SEO focused type content and instead post everyday thoughts and experiences that tie back to money related topics.  Without the SEO content, my blog has grown slower than many others, but I wouldn’t change the thing as the readers I have are very loyal and give me some great feedback.

The Yakezie Effect

I was pleased to have joined the Yakezie many months back.  One of the things that I noticed was that personal finance bloggers often promoted one another, but what I noticed is that the higher traffic blogs seemed to be exclusively promoting other high traffic blogs.  The Yakezie seemed to be a way for blogs of all shapes and sizes to promote each other.  I haven’t been as lucky as many others to cross the 200k Alexa mark yet, but I’m still hoping to cross that threshold.

My Money Background and Goals

I learned at a young age that debt was not something to be taken lightly.  I was blessed to have parents and grandparents who all valued the idea of saving money and not owing money.  With this, I’ve always saved money for retirement, I’ve always paid off my credit cards every month, and making sure to reduce the debt we do have (currently student loans and mortgage) is a key focus.

I’m also blessed to have a wife who shares in these goals.  She and I both agree that paying off loans is key, that saving is important, and we plan on sharing and teaching this with Little Boy Beagle (and any other kids we might be blessed with) as they grow.

What’s Next?

There any many bloggers out there whose stories and experiences are thoughtful, inspiring, and teaching, and who I look forward to seeing what they have to say every time they post.  All I can hope for is that others out there might say the same about Money Beagle and what I present.  I will continue to post my stories, my experiences, my advice, and in a way that I hope others appreciate and get value from.

One of my favorite phrases is something that a coach repeated over and over back in college, that I think is worth a reminder for myself and everybody to remember every day (thus, it closes out all of my blog posts), and that is “It’s a great day to be alive!”
