Over the past several weeks, we have been working hard to get all of the features that we want for Yakezie.com. Today, we are happy to announce the launch of one of the most important components, the Yakezie Forums! The Yakezie Forums will replace our Google Groups entirely, and is designed as a way for our readers, members, and authors to communicate with each other behind the scenes on anything and everything.
Just like the Yakezie Google Group, access to the Yakezie Private Forums is by invitation only. Those who have signed up for a Yakezie Member Post (and were registered by 11PM pacific last night) have already been granted access to the private forums. This is a manual process, and we have likely missed a few people. If you don’t see the private forums, and are a Member of the first challenge, let us know in the comments below and we’ll take care of the issue as soon as possible. For honorable readers, who are not a part of the Yakezie, feel free to access the Public Forums where members and non members alike can interact. Challengers also have their own Yakezie Challenger Forum in the Public Forums.
To access the forums, click on the “Yakezie Forums” link on the right side of the navigation bar, above. To contribute to the forums, you must have a Yakezie.com account (Click here to register). If you have already registered for an account to get your Yakezie belt, don’t worry, the same account works in the forums too. Chris is working hard to integrate the Yakezie Belt score with the forums, and within the next few weeks, your contributions to the forums will count toward your belt score too.
In order to add a post, make sure that you are logged in, then select the forum that you want to post in. Once you have clicked on the forum title click on the “Add a New Topic” link on the middle right, type up your post, click “Post New Topic” on the lower right and let the conversations begin!
Please take your time to familiarize yourself with the functionality of the forums. It’s really quite straight forward and you’ll get the hang of it in no time. I’ve kick started the Private Forums with eight topics, and have written a post or two in each as well. Within the Private Forums you’ll find our Carnival and Member Post Schedules, Professional Opportunities, and more. The Public Forums is a free for all.
Please have a look at each and share your thoughts. When we finish up the bulk of our Member Posts by end of October, we’ll launch our 2nd challenge, as well as work on the Yakezie Scholarship vertical!
Thanks everyone!
Sam / Chris
Thanks Sam, will run over there and get started :).
Sounds good. Please report back any bugs or functionality problems. I guess since you’re overseas, you’ll always get first dibs on checking things out and commenting here based off our posting time!
Just realised I should be logged in to get belt points.
Forum looks great, no bugs to report yet.
Yeah it feels like I wake up really early and go to bed really early :).
We’re still working on tying in the Belt Points with the forum. But, Chris has told me that once it’s up, the system will retroactively ad the belt points to your account during the time the system was not up and a member was active. We shall see, as it’s a pretty complicated system. Thnx Chris!
Sam, do you have to be a full-fledged member to be invited to the private forums? Also, how do you get back to the settings page again?
Paul, when you say settings page, what exactly do you mean? Let me know, and I should be able to point you in the right direction.
The forums are looking great guys. Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate. Thought you were on vacation? :) Let me know if you find any bugs.
@Paul, yes the private forums are for full-fledged members who’ve completed the 6 month challenge and have written a Member Post. There are a number of initiatives there which are sensitive in nature. Cheers.
Came back yesterday…trying to catch up on emails and lots of blogs to read!
Looking great, Sam!
Looks great, Sam! I read all the posts in the forum (and sub forums), everything works great! Thanks for the good work!
Good to know everything is working out well. Chris did a great job, and we beta tested the heck out of it last night!
I look forward to contributing! Thank you all for all of the hard work, this place is really starting to come together!
Thanks,
Timothy
I just checked out the forum page and it looks great!
I can see the public forums without any issues so far. Looks great!! Awesome stuff
Everything looks good in the public forums. I can’t wait until I can get under 200,000 so I can sign up for my member post and have access to the private forums! I’m at 205k now, so hopefully, it won’t be too long.
The forum looks great! I’m excited to use it versus the google groups as I think a forum will do a better job organizing all our thoughts. Nicely done you guys!
The Forums look great Sam!
The forums are looking pretty cool, and I like the integration between it and the rest of the site! Great job, guys.
Cool feature Sam. I like it!
I just got under 200k and met the original challenge. I signed up for a member post in Google Groups. Have I earned entry into the private forums? :-)
Hi Khaleef – Can you remind us when you joined again? We’re just trying to standardize things so that people have an ample enough about of time to get to know others and all that good stuff i.e. someone with a 230,000 rank joining a month before the 1st Challenge is about to end, and then breaking 200,000. Stuff like that.
Also, when is your member post scheduled to be up? Thnx!
Hey Sam,
I joined on 7.26.10 with a ranking above 800k – here was the post: http://knsfinancial.com/joining-the-yakezie-alexa-challenge/
All the member post slots were already taken, so I just put my information down and noted that I could do a weekend if necessary – but there were other unassigned members there as well.
I can completely understand about trying to standardize the numbers for the challenge. That’s why I regret not getting involved sooner.
Gotcha. Thanks for the reminder! The Challenge started on January 20th, 2010 and it was a 6 month challenge ending July 6th, so actually you joined after the challenge.
Many of those who started the challenge in the 200-300K aimed to shoot for 150,000 or 100,000. What about shooting for sub 150,000 to make it somewhat fair?
Many people knew about the Yakezie Challenge for a while, and we wanted to prevent people from just joining on the bandwagon at the very end, even if that wasn’t your intent.
150,000 sound like a good goal? I’m sure you can do it!
Sounds fair…to get on page 1 at Wisebread will now take being under 140k, so that’s now my new goal anyway!
I will definitely need a lot of support from the Yakezie for that!
Sounds great! Good attitude mate! I’m confident you will achieve sub 140,000 and build relationships with your fellow Challengers!
After Nov 1st, we’ll be throwing in new Member Posts here and there, so we’ll put up a new sign up sheet!
Hey Sam..I did it!
Thanks to everyone’s help, my Alexa ranking is at 146,000 as of today! My info is still on the old sign in sheet (as a “standby” for now). Let me know if I need to do anything!
Thanks again.
Prematurely registered at the forum. I see I need to complete a few tasks before having full access, such as completing the Alexa challenge and writing a member post. Lol.
Onwards and upwards!
Cheers,
Danny
There’s the public forums for Challengers. Feel free to introduce yourself!

Just registered for the forums. (Yes I’m behind-back to school has kicked my butt!). Would love to be added to the private forums.
Hi Kelly, good to see you’ve signed up. Pls check out the forums and sign up for a Member Post. There’s a lot to father up on!
