Hello,
I joined the challenge today October 8th,2010, my current Alexa Page Rank is 254,708 (down from 600,000 2 months ago).
My goals are to become a better writer, make a little more money to help out with my son's education (he is on the Autism Spectrum) and keep enjoying writing as well (don't want it to become a drudgery that I MUST do).
C8j
Hopefully you will achieve your goals faster than you think. Welcome!

Hello Yakeziens, (is that the right word?)
I joined the challenge on October 11, 2010 and my current Alexa rank is "no rank."
Is there any other way to begin a challenge?
My blog is here – http://www.retireby40.org
I am chronicling my quest to retire from the corporate world by the time I am 40. I'm 36 now so I do not have a lot of time, but I think I can do it. My goal is to learn more about blogging, how web hosting work, and how to build traffic. I also want to improve my writing. It has gone downhill since I graduated college and it wasn't all that great to begin with. English is my second language and I was always more a math and science guy. Another purpose of the blog is to bring my wife and relatives up to speed on personal finance.
I'm just focusing on building traffic for now and not really looking at making money yet.

Welcome Retireby40! I like that name! Don't worry about norank. The way to take advantage of this group is first by being active. The more noticed you are, the more other members can help promote your site and posts. If you stay silent, then no one will notice you.

Welcome to the challenge, you will find the people here warm and inviting.
Starting with no rank is a perfect way to get into this challenge. Not just do the things that were outlined in the challenge and you should see that alexa rank get numbered, then fall.
Good luck!!

Welcome Lisa to the Challenge!! You can do it. You are starting from the perfect place with your alexa ranking. And if you are active with helping others, then you will see some movement very early on. Just get involved right away. Don't waste time thinking because once you figure out that is really all you have to do, you will wish you spent that time doing these simple things.
Can't wait to connect with you on Twitter.
It's crazy cause before this group, I never really used twitter. It was silly to me. I get it now. We are networked and attacking Alexa!!
Good luck!

You already write quite well.
I'd change the "Just another Wordpress.com site" to your USP.

Hi Everyone,
So I just joined the Yakezie Challenge (Oct 12, 2010) and I am pretty excited to start working with you guys. You know, I had an Alexa rating below 100k at one point and then I let up on my blog. *sigh*
I started my blog (http://www.insightwriter.com) about 2 years ago and in 3 months I had it hovering between 100k and 300k Alexa rating.
I was posting every day. Commenting everywhere. Reading everything I could about SEO. Did a few guest posts, a few blog carnivals including heading up the Carnival of Personal Development for a few months. And got a few group projects going which were really successful.
Then the inevitable two word demon appeared…
"Burn Out"
Now its two years later. I've started another personal blog (http://www.jeremymday.com) and Im headed toward burn out again. Well we will see, but Im super excited to be back in the game and I have a bunch of posts either waiting to be written or already written and scheduled to be posted.
I have a bunch of people interested in guest posting again. Im getting the conversation going again. And I am finding a renewed passion for my writing… again.
So thats my blogging story. You can learn more about me by visiting those blog sites.
And I am sure you will learn more about my life story, my personal finance journey, and why I am here in bits and pieces in the future. Since this is so long already I didn't want to turn it into a novel.
Anyhow, please let me know how I can help. That's the main reason I am here, and why I decided to join this community. So I could give back a little.
I have a lot to teach everyone based on the mistakes and triumphs I have made through blogging. I am sure you guys have a ton to share with me as well.
So here is to a bright Yakezie future!
Cheers,
Jeremy
p.s. Almost forgot… my current Alexa is 842,896. Whats funny is Im ranked 88,000 something in India as my #1 country that visits. Welcome to the global world my friends. ;-)

Jeremy,
WELCOME TO YAKEZIE!!!!
Should be a great ride to network with this group of bloggers. I am a week into the competition and my alexa is down significantly just cause I dove in with both feet! This is a great group.
About to follow you on Twitter and I will be all over!

Is there a place where we can list all of the challengers because this thread is going to get really big and it's going to get hard to keep up to date.

I hope you guys are having a great day. I'm NCN and I write about personal finance over at No Credit Needed – ncnblog.com.
I've been blogging about personal finance since April 2005, and I know several of you guys. I started to see the Yakezie badget on several sites, so I decided to join.
Currently, my Alexa rank is 281,536. It used to be a bit higher, when I was blogging more often, but I took about 6 months off from regular posting. I'm back now, with daily or twice-daily posts, so hope things will improve.
Here's to the success of all our sites – feel free to say "hi" here or over at twitter.com/NCN
Rock on,
NCN
